Cataclysm Quartermaster Epic Loot – By Faction
I get tired of always going to WoWHead or WoWWiki to look up these Quartermasters loot tables over and over. Since I have 5 toons that are 80 or above, I have all kinds of classes and can’t memorize all of these, so I decided to post them all here. This first list is the break-down by specific faction Quartermaster. Tomorrow’s list will be by class.
All of these items require an Exalted status with the faction listed. Each faction also has a tabard you can purchase, once you are Friendly with them, to wear while running level 85 dungeons.

5 Steps for Leveling to 85
I’ve got 1-85, 1-84 and 2 other toons 81 or higher. Here are the steps I have found, through trail-and-error, on the best way to get to 85. I don’t mean the fastest way, you can probably find power-leveling guides online for that. No, I mean this is the best way I have found, with your focus being on End-Game Raiding. All of these steps will get you closer to being ready for Heroics and Raids once you hit 85.
- At 80, go to Orgrimmar and get these 2 quests:
Warchief’s Command: Vashj’ir!
Warchief’s Command: Mount Hyjal! - Start at Vashj’ir and go until you get the quest for the Abyssal Seahorse. Ride the Seahorse to the Throne of Tides so that you can discover the entrance. This Seahorse adds to your mount collection, even though you can only use it in Vashj’ir and these quests will get you started on the Earthen Ring faction rep.
- At 82, go back to Orgrimmar and get Warchief’s Command: Deepholm! – I suggest doing all the quests in Deepholm so that you can unlock the Therazane area for their daily quests and Quartermaster. You can buy their tabard and wear it in 85 dungeons to obtain rep. Therazane contains the Shoulder Enchants for Level 85 toons, you get a low one at honored and the Greater version at Exalted. This is basically the replacement for Sons of Hodir enchants in WotLK.
- At 83, head back to Orgrimmar again and get Warchief’s Command: Uldum!. Do as many quests as you need to in order to reach a Friendly status with Ramkahen. Friendly status will let you buy their tabard to wear in dungeons also. There is only 1 daily quest for this faction that I have been able to find, so grinding these quests is suggested. This was my favorite area in the new expansion, due to the Indiana Jones theme throughout the zone.
- At 84, for the last time, head back to Orgrimmar and pickup Warchief’s Command: Twilight Highlands! - Do the opening quest line that gets you Friendly with Dragonmaw. This will open up some daily quests and phase you into some new areas you won’t be able to see without completing the quest line. There are several daily quests for this faction also, so you don’t really need to grind on them as you do Uldum, but the quests in this zone are fun also.
You will need an average gear-item level of 329 in order to queue in LFD for Heroics. The only way to get Justice Points at 85 is to run the first daily dungeon every day for 70JP. You can also do the weekly raid in Dalaran for 178JP, but until you get to Cataclysm Heroics, this will be about all you can get, so be sure and get as many as you can. Rep with the 5 new factions will get you some epics once you get to exalted, so search the Quartermasters in each faction to find the best gear for your class and spec. The highest 2 or 3 regular-mode dungeons drop level 333 gear, so I suggest running those for all the boss drops that you can get, even if you have already done the daily on that particular day.
I’ll make some more updates as I have them, but this is a good starting plan for most everyone, imo.
World of Warcraft Book Timeline
I’ve got a sickness of having to read books in chronological order. I don’t know why, but when I pickup a series, I have to read it in order. So, given that fact, I look around on Google and Amazon for chronological lists. I found a really good one, which includes the latest books in the WoW series. It is on Amazon and written by a guy named Eric J. Weldon. Here is a direct link to the Amazon list.
Currently, I am reading War of the Ancients #2: The Demon Soul and when I finish it, I will write a review both on Amazon and on this blog. Then I will follow this list to continue my reading
State of My Toons when Cataclysm Dropped
I wanted to write a post that lists my toons and their levels at the time of the Cataclysm release. I wish that I had done this when Lich King dropped, but I never thought about it. So here goes:
The Warrior – 80
The Mage – 80
Launch, My Shaman – 80
The Paladin – 80
The Druid – newest 80, only hit 80 about a month before
The Hunter – just hit 70
The Deathknight – 68
The Warlock - 79. He is on my 2nd account right now, and I rarely play him
The Priest – 70 and holding. I turned off XP on him to run him in BC heroics, just for something different to do. However, I haven’t logged him in for about 2-3 months.
The Rogue - my lowbie. 42 at the time of this post.
I also have a lowbie Shaman who is 40, and a new Goblin Warrior that I just started to do the beginning Goblin quests. Some of us in the guild have started some new toons with plans to do dungeons on them for all the guild dungeon achievements, which should be quite fun.
Ding, 85
I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in the last week, I have spent most of my time leveling my Shaman in Cataclysm. I’ll be posting more in the days and weeks to come.
I hit 85 on my Shammy last Thursday, 2 days after release. I saw some 85s Tuesdays evening, so I wasn’t the quickest by far, but I think that 2 days was a good time to level all the way up. I did notice some interesting facts about the amount of XP you needed to get from 80-85, which I will list below.
80-82 is fairly easy. I was surprised that the XP needed between these levels wasn’t more, honestly. I was expecting a much longer grind.
82-83 requires 4million XP, which is twice the amount you need to get from 81-82. This is where I slowed down some. I headed straight to Deepholm after dinging 82, in attempts to get the higher level XP-rewarding quests. I finished all the quests in Deepholm for the achievement Deep Into Deepholm.
83-84 requires about 5.2million XP. I was thankful that the number didn’t double again. This grind seemed less agonizing to me because I was expecting more XP after considering the jump from 82-83. I spent most of this time in Uldum and I finished all these quests also for Unearthing Uldum.
84-85 requires 9.1million XP. Of course this seems like a large amount, but the quest rewards give greater XP also. After I finished the Uldum Quest achievement, I went to Twilight Highlands. You need 95 quests for this achievement, but I dinged 85 while I was about 70 quests into it. Of course I ran some dungeons while leveling also. I did go back later, actually earlier today, and obtain the quest achievement Fading into Twilight.
Now it’s time to get my Warrior to 85. He is 82 right now. I’ll post about him later.
