Our Refer-a-friend bonus actually goes until Feb 5, but I am not sure that we will run any more toons before then. Last week, we got our 2 toons to 58 (my Paladin and my friend’s Warlock), and I was able to get level grants on both my Shammy and my Mage, so along with my Deathknight, I now have 4 toons around level 58.
It didn’t take any time at all to quest in Thrallmar with each toon from 58-60. My Shaman is now 61, about 20% through. I am planning on using him as a Resto Shammy for my guild.
So I have some work to do, to level 4 toons all the way to 80. This is on top of my main, The Warrior, who is already 80 and I am raiding with, and The Warlock who is 74, working his way to 80 also. I am going to concentrate on running the Shaman (who will be heals) and the Paladin (who will be Prot) up to 80, each as a DPS spec now, and then re-specing to their respective roles once they hit 80.
So I have some work ahead of me….
I didn’t quite realize that it had been an entire month since I had written here, so I am going to post an update for all the toons I have been working on since the last entry.
The Warrior:
I ran Kara for the first time just a few nights ago. I never really got into Raiding with the Warrior, mostly because most people want me to tank and I don’t like tanking. At one time, I got very burned out on the Warrior, but lately since re-specing to ARMS, I have been enjoying him more. I plan to level him to 80 once WOTLK comes out next week.
The Warlock:
With the new patch, 3.0.3, that dropped 2 days ago, you can now get the Dreadsteed from the TRAINER at level 61! It cost me 510g for the riding lessons, something which I didn’t have to buy for the level 30 mount, and the horse itself was 17g. My goal is to get the Warlock to 70 before WOTLK drops. Last night I quested with him in Nagrand and ran Underbog, and finished the night around 65% through level 66. I will definitely hit 67 with him tonight and see how far I can get him.
The Mage:
The Made is at level 51 and I have put him on a temporary hold in order to spend time leveling the Warlock to 70.
The Shaman:
I have been running the Shaman for the last few weeks on the Refer-a-Friend program with a friend who has a Warlock. We are both around level 40 and it didn’t take much time to get there. It isn’t uncommon to get 9500+ XP for a quest turn-in at this level with this triple XP bonus.
The Hunter and The Twink:
These 2 names are the same toon. I started a hunter a while back, only because I didn’t have one and I wanted to see what they were like. In my opinion, there are too many hunters on the server. Anyway, after I started him and ran him up to around level 8, a friend on the server said that I should Twink him out and bring him into a Twink guild that he had. So we ran him through Deadmines and Wailing Caverns, getting some good leather armor drops and weapons for him and I started running Warsong Gulch with him last week. THAT IS FUN! He already has over 1000 kills and I have bought 2 new PvP pieces of gear with the honor I received. Our goal is to get them Exhaulted with Warsong Outriders, and then level them to 29 and start on Arathi Basin.
Last night a friend, who accepted an invite to join WoW that I sent him, and I ran quests in Stonetalon Mountains. The recruit-a-friend program is nice because it gives you TRIPLE XP for any mobs killed, AND for Quest turn-ins. So at levels 20-25, it is normal to get around 6000-9000 XP for a quest completion.
This also works well in Instance runs, getting you triple XP for mobs killed. It is nice to have a 70 run you through quickly, a few times.
One thing that I noticed about the triple XP is that is apparently doesn’t take away from your Rest Bonus. My rest bonus at the beginning of the night was 150% and after leveling twice from grinding and from quest turn-ins I was only down to 130% rest at the end of the night. It seems to take away the NORMAL percentage of rest you would get from not being on the recruit-a-friend program, but it doesn’t take away triple percentages. This is nice, it basically means that I could be rested all the way up to 60 when Triple XP ends.
Some nice features of the Refer-a-Friend promotion are:
Triple XP on grinding and quests
Summon your friend anywhere in the game, 1 hour cooldown
When your friend has paid for his first month, YOU get a free month
When your friend has paid for his 2nd month, You’ve earned an exclusive in-game mount.
