Yesterday I logged into the game and headed to Orgrimmar to await the event to defend the city. I took some screen shots of the event, both before and during. There were probably 70-80 people in Org, waiting for the event to start around 7pm Server Time, yesterday evening. It was enough to fill 2 full raids, at least.

When the events starts, your first task is to put up barricades around Orgrimmar. This is done by clicking on boxes at random places, and then moving the barricades towards the front entrance. After this is done, you move around to each of the sections of the city to destroy the rifts where Elementals are spawning from. Once each section of the city is secured, and all the Elementals are dead, the event ends. Sadly, there is no Achievement or Feat of Strength for this completion.

During the entire event, you have a timer at the top of your screen that shows your status, similar to those you will see in Battlegrounds. Once these are done, you know the event is over.

Afterwards, 2 new options appear in your Dungeon Finder. These are both single boss fights; one is the Fire Elemental inside of BRD and the other is the last boss, Princess, in Maraudon. Both bosses, and surrounding mobs, have been upgraded to Level 81-82 mobs, but are easily killable with a good group. The mobs around the fire boss will silence you, so healers be careful.

Both bosses drop iLVL 251 gear, which is new.

Here are some screen shots from Orgrimmar, yesterday around 7pmST.

During Hallow’s End, which ends on Halloween, October 31, there are achievements for the World Event where you go to many different Inn-keepers throughout Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms and Outlands and “Trick or Trest” by clicking on a pumpkin, completing a quest, and gaining different candies, each which give you a 1-hour buff of different types.

Tricks and Treats of Kalimdor

Tricks and Treats of Eastern Kingdoms

Tricks and Treats of Eastern Outlands

There are 47 Innkeepers that make-up these 3 achievements, for Horde. On my 66 Deathknight, who has 2 pieces of BoA gear (which increase XP by 10% per piece) I was getting 6780 XP per Innkeeper quest. This totals 318,660XP (47×6780=318,660) which will give me about 2/3 of a level at 66.

I highly recommend doing this for any non-80s you have.

I loaded up WoW this morning before going to work and found that Hallow’s End started today, which I knew but had forgotten.

So I queued for the Headless Horseman run, and the instance still seems somewhat broken, but the queue finally came through. It works much like Brewfest did, you queue for it with the dungeon finder and at the end, you receive a bag with some items and possibly the Headless Horseman’s Steed.

And I got it… first run of the season, on the first toon, my Druid. Woohoo. Here is a screenshot below of the dungeon finder window and of my Druid riding his new mount.

I’ve been meaning to make a post about Brewfest, but I haven’t done it yet. All of Brewfest is the same as last year, except that you can now queue for the Coren Direbrew kill with the Dungeon Finder.

In today’s run, I took my Warrior tank. The queue popped almost immediately with a full group. Once in there, we had a DK named Skûlley from Shattered Hand. He started the fight himself (something the tank should be doing) and after Direbrew was dead, I had the top DPS of the entire group….as a warrior tank.

In short, this DK is fail, not just because he thinks he is a tank, but because his DPS in blood spec also sucks. If you get a random with this dude, you might want to drop group and wait until later.

I got this achievment last week on The Warrior and this completed ALL World Events for this toon, getting me the What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been achievement and the Violet Proto-Drake.

I’ve now started working on the Shaman for the same achievement. He has a few of them, including Hallow’s End and Brewfest, but he still needs 4 or 5 more of them.

Here are the achievements for Hallow’s End

* Trick or Treat! – done at any Innkeeper in the game
* Out With It – eat so much candy that you puke. this is easiest done with the sweets you get from the Headless Horseman quest after killing him. They look like pumpkins.
* Bring Me The Head of… Oh Wait – Kill the Headless Horseman (5 man quest)
* The Savior of Hallow’s End – Put out fires in Brill, Razor Hill or Falconwing Square when the Headless Horseman attacks
* That Sparkling Smile – loot a toothpick from any Innkeeper by Trick-or-Treating.
* Rotten Hallow – Get 2 quests outside of Undercity on the road to Sepulcher. Take those quests to Southshore, in Hillsbrad Foothills, turn one of them in inside the inn, and throw stink bombs in the center of town.
* G.N.E.R.D. Rage – kill 50 allies while having the GNERDS buff. These are candy you get from the Innkeeper every hour. This achievement is easy to get in Wintergrasp.
* Check Your Head – From the daily quests or from the Headless Horseman, you get pumpkins to throw at other players. Do this for each class and you get the achievement.
* The Masquerade – This part is NOT needed for the Hallow’s End title or achievement.
* Sinister Calling – Loot a Squashling Pet and a Helm from the Headless Horseman OR from the Innkeeper Trick-or-Treat loot.
* Tricks and Treats of Azeroth – Go to all Inns in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Outlands, getting candy from the big Pumpkin with the ! over it. This gives good XP if you aren’t 80 and 6g63s if you are 80.
